Flights/Rental Cars

You can fly into one of three airports:

San Jose is the most convenient airport, but you might find better deals into San Francisco or Oakland. Jet Blue offers very inexpensive flights from the East Coast into Oakland only. Also, we have negotiated a discount with American Airlines. To receive a 5% discount off the lowest fare, call 800-221-2255 and use authorization code 4183AJ. If you book your travel more than 30 days prior to your departure date, you’ll get an additional 5% discount!  

In addition, you can get a significant discount on Avis car rentals by using the AWD (Avis Worldwide Discount) code D003737.

Hotels

We have reserved blocks of rooms at two hotels. Both hotels are located within walking distance of downtown Los Gatos and are a very short drive from the wedding site.

The Los Gatos Lodge is a comfortable, friendly hotel. The guestrooms feature air conditioning, cable/satellite TV, complimentary newspaper, cooking facilities and refrigerator (in rooms with kitchenettes), coffee/tea maker, modem Internet access, fax machine, hair dryer, and an iron/ironing board. The negotiated rates are $99 for a standard room with a queen bed, $109 for a room with two double beds, and $129 for a room with a kitchenette. To get these rates, use authorization code CGK&ZW when making your reservations. 

The Hotel Los Gatos is brand-new hotel with a Mediterranean feel. The guestrooms feature Egyptian cotton linens, work desk, high-speed Internet access, two-line phone with voicemail, honor bar, cable TV, air conditioning, coffee maker, hair dryer, and in-room safe. There is an Italian restaurant and a day spa on the grounds. The negotiated rates are $175 for a standard room with a king bed, $275 for a one-bedroom suite (can sleep 4), and $345 for a two-bedroom suite (can sleep 6). To get these rates, mention our wedding when making your reservations.  (Note: Hotel Los Gatos is a non-smoking facility).

About Los Gatos

Los Gatos is a small, picturesque town at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The downtown area is filled with unique shops, restaurants, and parks, and is surrounded by charming residential neighborhoods full of Victorian houses. There is a farmers’ market every Sunday morning in the town park. La Rochelle Cellars, our wedding site, is located on a hill above the downtown area. Built on the grounds of a former Jesuit winery, the original building dates from 1893 and offers views of the surrounding mountains.

Our Story

Chris and Melissa met in 1996 when they passed each other in the halls at 3DO. Melissa tried to be friendly to Chris, but he was rude to her. Luckily she gave him another chance at the office holiday party, and he was much more charming the second time around!

Chris proposed on October 12, 2002. Chris and Melissa were in Lake Tahoe for a friend's wedding. After the wedding, they went outside to look at the stars. Chris pointed to a certain constellation and said there was a star there named Melissa Kirmse, and if Melissa would marry him, the star would be named after her. She was so surprised that she didn't say anything at first, but of course she said yes!

Ceremony/Reception Details

The ceremony and reception will take place at La Rochelle Cellars (formerly Mirassou Champagne Cellars) at 300 College Avenue in Los Gatos, CA. The ceremony will be outdoors and the reception will be indoors. See more pictures here!
